Varghese Philip

Dr. Varghese Philip, a trained surgeon from the Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, has served in remote regions of Bhutan and the Himalayas. He co-founded Asha Kiran Hospital in Odisha, India, with his wife and a team. After obtaining a master’s degree from the London School of Economics, he joined the leadership team of Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA). During his tenure at the EHA, he initiated the revival of the Baptist Christian Hospital at Tezpur and established the Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research in Nagaland, India. Since then, he has provided strategic advice to various healthcare institutions. For the past seven years he has been working with the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) as its strategy consultant. In this role he has worked in Papua New Guinea and in Timor Leste. Currently he assists MAF with strategy for its world-wide programs. He is based in Tamil Nadu with his wife, Nirmala, who supports palliative care at the Christian Fellowship Hospital, Oddanchatram. They have two daughters and two granddaughters.
