Jae Doo Shim

Dr. Shim is a missionary based in Albania (1993 ~ present) affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Korea and the Global Missionary Pioneers (GMP). Dr. Shim grew up with strong devotions to Christ since his youth leading up to his early involvement with the Korean Christian Medical Fellowship (KCMF) while attending his alma mater, Kyung-Hee University School of Medicine. Dr. Shim served in many different capacities under KCMF starting off as a full-time associate and then as the Chief of Staff, the Secretary General, and presently the Central Board Director since 2023. During his on-site ministry in Albania, Dr. Shim along with his wife who is a surgical pathologist served passionately through teaching at the University Hospital of an Albanian University, providing medical care at the Shalom Clinic that he constructed from ground up, planting several churches, and initiating many children and youth ministries and programs. Given his vast experiences in medical missions, Dr. Shim was invited to advise as an honorary executive board member of the renowned International Christian Medical Dental Association. Dr. Shim is a published author of six books on Christian missions: “The Mission Handbook”, “Confict of Missionaries and Solution”, “Modern Medical Missiology” (790 pages with 57 other authors), etc. Most recently, he has initiated several online and app-based medical mission networks, one of which has over 4,000 active members. Many of them are currently serving on-site at their respective mission fields and medical areas.
